Sigalas Santorini, the flagship wine of the unique Domaine Sigalas, is one of the most valuable and significant achievements in the Greek wine scene.

Select Assyrtiko grapes from age-old vines located on the northern part of the volcanic island of Santorini are the raw material used to create this magical wine. Nerve, power, steely acidity and a unique mineral and salty feel create a wine with unforgettable structure and a body that allows it to accompany demanding dishes ranging from shellfish and open-sea fish to meat and poultry.

Apart from the unique grapes that give the word “terroir” its true meaning, the vinification method plays just as an important role. After harvest, the grapes are placed in refrigerators to be pressed on the following day, in an exceptionally mild and slow manner (each pressing lasts 7 hours). Finally, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, over fine lees, which adds extra body and oiliness.

Adding to all that the unique capability of this white wine to age for at least 5 years after the year of harvest and to develop a unique complexity and an unforgettable character, it is easy to understand why this wine is among the best white wines in the world.
