Overview

“4” is a unique and rare wine of the Aivalis Winery which is sold en primeur. Only 480 bottles are produced every year.

Its name comes from the mere 0.4 hectare pre-phylloxera vineyard of the Aivalis family in Fliasio Field, Ancient Nemea. The vines are 150 years old and production does not exceed 1750 kg / hectare. The wine is fermented in an open tank with long maceration (40 days). It is the only Greek wine that matures in two different types of new barrels: during the first 16 months it matures in new American barrels and then it is racked in new French barrels for another 20 months. The result is a wine with unique richness and body that will easily overpower any dish that is not rich, fatty and protein-based. Accompanying meat dishes is the only way to go with this wine.

“4” is among the top fine wines of Greece.
